Save the Date: 2013 Dallas Heart Walk

CooperCares About HeartHealthLace up your sneakers, it’s Heart Walk season! Did you know Dallas is home to the largest Heart Walk in the nation? Did you also know that our Founder and Chairman Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper launched the first Dallas Heart Walk in 1992? We have a lot to celebrate at Cooper Aerobics and we did just that yesterday to kick-off our fundraising efforts for the 2013 Dallas Heart Walk.

Cooper Aerobics is a longtime supporter of the American Heart Association (AHA). At Cooper, our mission for more than 40 years has been preventive medicine, saving thousands of lives from cardiovascular disease. The AHA is a perfect extension of our mission, with both organizations working towards the same goal of fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke—the number one and number four killers of Americans.

The AHA’s signature fundraising event, the Heart Walk, promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family oriented environment. In 1992 they started with just 400 walkers, and today, the Dallas Heart Walk is the largest in the nation with more than 50,000 walkers, raising more than $4 million for cardiovascular research.

At our kick-off we celebrated the strides that AHA has made throughout the years and looked ahead to the opportunities for the 2013 Dallas Heart Walk. AHA has set a goal of $5.5 million. To support that goal, Cooper Aerobics pledged to raise $100,000. To join our team or a make donation click here.

Dr. Cooper has made many contributions to AHA and his son, Dr. Tyler Cooper CEO of Cooper Aerobics is continuing the legacy as he serves as the Board President of the AHA Dallas Division through 2014.

Find your local Heart Walk here and take a stand against heart disease. If you are in the Dallas area, we hope to see you walking on September 7!
