Taking care of our skin is essential as proper skin care helps protect against various environmental stressors, maintains skin health and promotes overall well-being. Establishing a healthy skin care routine is the foundation to a youthful, dewy complexion. Cooper Clinic Preventive and Cosmetic Dermatologist Helen G. Kaporis, DO, FAAD, shares her evening skin care routine along with helpful tips to achieve glowing, radiant skin.

Dr. Kaporis’ Evening Skin Care Routine

Step 1. Remove Makeup

Dr. Kaporis starts by using ISDIN Isdinceutics Essential Cleansing oil-based cleanser to effortlessly remove her makeup. Apply the cleanser to dry skin and rinse with warm water while avoiding the eyes. Formulated with nourishing ingredients including extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil and clary sage, this gentle cleanser effectively removes makeup, sunscreen and pollution particles, leaving the skin fresh and clean. For the eye area Dr. Kaporis uses ISDIN Micellar Solution to remove any eye makeup. This 4-in-1 cleanser is a hypoallergenic formula with 0% alcohol, 0% soap and 0% perfumes—making it an ideal choice for someone with sensitive skin.

Step 2. Cleanse

After removing her makeup Dr. Kaporis cleanses her skin with Revision Skincare® Papaya Enzyme Cleanser. This cleanser features the natural extract of papaya fruit—an enzyme known for its gentle exfoliating properties.

Step 3. Protect

Next, to protect her skin, Dr. Kaporis uses Restorative Skin Complex by ALASTIN® Skincare containing peptides to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, crucial for anti-aging. With the inclusion of L-Ornithine and Hexapeptide 38, this restorative complex helps improve elasticity in our skin as well as replenish thinning areas.

Step 4. Correct

Dr. Kaporis then uses her favorite retinol, Renewal Retinol also made by ALASTIN®. Using retinol helps to reverse photodamage and increase cellular turnover.

Step 5. Moisturize

To wrap up her routine Dr. Kaporis applies Nectifrim® Advanced by Revision Skincare®, focusing on strengthening and lifting the delicate skin on her neck. This daily application plays a critical role in maintaining the overall health of her skin.

Dr. Kaporis’ Number One Tip:

Wear sunscreen! Dr. Kaporis emphasizes the importance of wearing sunscreen daily to prevent UV light damage and free radical oxidative stress from pollution. She uses HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 by ALASTIN® every day. When she needs to reapply later in the day she likes to use the skinbetter science® Sunbetter® Sunscreen compact which comes in a sheer powder or a tone-adapting powder with a hint of color. When she is going to be in water she uses her favorite water-resistant sunscreen, EltaMD® UV Stick, which is also a fan favorite among kids, golfers and tennis players.
